Over 125 courses on offer in PET’s new prospectus

We have published our new Course Prospectus 2022-23, offering over 125 courses to people in prison.

The Prisoners’ Education Trust prospectus includes: 

• Information on all our short courses, GCSEs and A-levels, Open University Access modules and professional courses;
• Help to choose the right course and level;
• A step-by-step guide to making a course application;
• An outline of the support available from PET, prisons and course providers.

We have sent copies to every prison in England and Wales for your education department and library – please do look out for them! While we cannot send copies to individual learners, we can send you a course index by emailaprisoner or post.

Take a look at some of the new courses we have to offer:

Boosting your Business Potential (Level 3)

This course explores the many influences on a business, how to maximise your marketing, how to improve team performance and how quality and standards can make or break a business. It’s the perfect next step after our Business Start-up course.

Canine Science (Level 3)

For dog owners and those wishing to work with dogs, this course covers the psychology of canine learning and behaviour, anatomy and physiology, as well as the correct nutrition for a variety of breeds and ages.

Drug and Alcohol Counselling (Level 3)

This course is an ideal first step for learners considering working with people who are struggling with addiction, helping them to overcome their problems and lead healthier lives. 

E-Commerce Business (Level 2)

Written by someone with lived experience of prison and of running his own successful online business, on this course you will cover all aspects of selling products on eBay and other online marketplaces and learn how to grow your own business.

Feline Studies (Level 3)

This course could give you an advantage when applying for jobs in catteries and for other animal care roles. You will develop a detailed knowledge and understanding of cats, including opportunities to study cat behaviour and healthcare. 

Korean (Level 2)

Learning a language is a great way to immerse yourself in a new culture. Korean is just one of 15 languages we offer via Linguaphone’s CD-and-workbook complete course, which takes you from beginner to advanced.

Principles of British Wildlife Care and Rehabilitation (Level 3)

This course will introduce you to the basic principles and ethics of wildlife care, including rehabilitation and release. You will develop your knowledge of the care and management of birds and small, large, and marine mammals.

Proofreading and Copy Editing (Level 2)

Many organisations rely on the services of proofreaders and copy editors to ensure that their written material is professionally presented and error-free. This course will help you master the techniques of these professions.
