National Prison Radio is going on tour!
Tuesdays are Takeover Days on National Prison Radio. We’re visiting a different prison every week to bring you a whole day’s worth of National Prison Radio programmes. We’re hitting the road to record your requests, shout outs, interviews and much more.
Start your Takeover Day with a Takeover Porridge show at 7am and 11am. We’ll then play a full two hours of requests on the Takeover Request Show at midday and 6pm. And then you’ll hear interviews and chat on the Takeover Talk show at 5pm and 10pm.
Coming up in June you’ll be hearing voices from HMP New Hall in Yorkshire, HMP Ranby in Nottinghamshire, HMP The Mount in Hertfordshire and more! We’ll be recording inspirational interviews with staff and prisoners, getting interesting news about your establishment, signposting to life-changing support … and maybe you’ll hear some freestyles too.
We want to visit as many prisons as possible, so if you want us to visit your prison get in touch with us on 0808 123 1234. It’s a chance to share your stories and talents – and to feel the magic of National Prison Radio visiting your prison. And the best bit is … the show is produced and presented by you! National Prison Radio brings the scripts, the microphones and the radio training. You bring the voice.
If you’d like National Prison Radio to visit your establishment, just call freephone 0808 123 1234, say ‘Takeover’ at the start of your message and tell us why we should visit.
National Prison Radio is unique because it’s radio produced by prisoners, for prisoners, broadcasting into cells across England and Wales. We’re here to help you during your prison sentence, from helping you to understand the prison system on your first night, right through to preparing for release.
We want our programmes to be supportive, informative and inspirational. But we can only do that with your help, which is why we’re trying to visit as many prisons as possible.
If you can’t listen to National Prison Radio in your prison, you should call 0808 123 1234 and let us know.
National Prison Radio Takeover Days broadcast every Tuesday. Check out the Takeover Talk show at 5pm, repeated at 10pm – and it also gets a special repeat at midday on Sunday.
National Prison Radio is the world’s first national radio station for people in prison. It’s run by a charity, the Prison Radio Association. It’s the only station in prison that features 24 hours of original programming made by people in prison, for people in prison, every day of the year.
