Is there any help?
My name is David, and I am a lifer of sorts. I am what I call an in-and-out lifer. I am 41 years old now and since the age of 18 I have spent 18 years in confined, secure conditions. I have never had a regular home. No bank account or ID. The world is a very strange place to me because of how long I have spent out of it.
When I am released next, I don’t know what to expect and I am a little scared. Could anybody tell me what support there is available, if any, for someone like me? I have always slipped through the net, and I am worried that this will happen again. Could anyone offer any advice? Like, who will be there for someone like me? I have so many worries right now. Bills, accommodation, just being out there, it’s all unrecognisable to me now. Can someone please help? I feel so alone.
