Dust in a snowstorm – Star Poem of the Month

Dust in a snowstorm – Star Poem of the Month

I’m not askin’ for much

Only what’s free

I’ll be the cheapest prisoner

You have ever seen

All I’d like is air that’s clean

Can you see I’ve lost everything?

Even what was once free

Has been taken from me

I don’t make a fuss

So, I don’t get listened to

I’m just referred to as “who?”

It hurts cos its true

Out of sight out of mind

Am I that forgettable – invisible

As plain as monochrome

Like dust in a snowstorm

Please help me – please see me

I’ll wear a neon arrow

Paint myself orange tango

As bright as a disco flamingo

A change I will undergo

But NO

It doesn’t matter what I do

I’ll not get support

I’ve accepted I’m too simple

To deserve a listen

So, I’ll just stay hush

And not cause a fuss

  1. Comedians may show the way
    For recognition every day.
They need a catchy catch-phrase, right?
    For showmanship most every night.
Just like that! I don’t beleeeve it!
    Garlic bread?? Am I bovvered??
Nice to see you, to see you… nice!
So you yourself perhaps will say
“Right away, no worries chief!” each day,
“I sniff the air, I guess what’s there,”
    Or other catch-phrase you’ll pre-prepare.
Soon you’ll be known, your catch-phrase caught,
You’ll soon be known as known you ought.
