Hope springs eternal, a phrase often spoken
But not by those with the internal demon awoken
He calls out to you when you least expect
And within moments you become the devil elect
The ability to choose wisely will soon disappear
You’re now in the hands of the evil puppeteer
The sole purpose of your existence quickly becomes redundant
And all of a sudden, you’re the devil incumbent
The only thing that matters is the minutes ahead
You really don’t care if you’re alive or you’re dead
Your decisions are compromised, your actions forbidden
No sense of compassion, your conscience is broken
That time severed moment will soon be upon me
You’d think I’d be pleased that soon I’ll be free
But behind me I’ll leave a warm room and food
And return to the fight with that demon so shrewd
