Purple and Bruised – Star Poem of the Month

Purple and Bruised – Star Poem of the Month

Come over here, my fellow con, come sit next to me…

Let’s speak of the plans you’re making, when they decide to set you free.

Will you serve and seek vengeance? Will you still be angry?

Will you be harbouring a bruised and purple heart?

Or could you be wiser and older and maybe go find a brand-new path!

Could you be persuaded to load up your bike and go venture and find a new cause?

Or would your past still hold its grip, with its poisonous, pointed, sharp claws?

Come my friend, sit next to me, let’s hear your thoughts and plans you are making when the day they decide to set you free.

Will you seek out some soft and gentle loving company? To help you keep on, keeping on.

Or is your bruised and purple heart beating loudly reminding you “love is a con” …

Have you lost all faith in the so-called gentler humankind? Can there be a perfect soul mate, or is it just a trick of the mind?

Come friend, get closer to me, let’s chew the fat. You can confide in me.

What will you do when they set you free?  Will you make new comrades? Will you ever share trust? Or will you always be guarded and never again get thrown under the bus?

Come my only friend, come over here, and let me whisper in your ear…

“When the day comes and you get to pass go”

There is only one to trust, and that’s me… your loyal, silent shadow.
