She saw me from across the room
Her face lit up and she flew up
into my arms, a bundle of delight
I love you daddy – I love you too
And suddenly, love, like an invisible bullet
Shot me down, and I was bleeding
My heart smashed open and broken
I can’t take this hurt anymore, it’s like
a sentence of death, but there’s nothing
I can do, I’ve got no options left
Her seeing me here, in this disgusting
place, leaves me reeling, like a blow
to the head, but I can’t show her
that I’m bleeding and down on the ground
And feel I’ve only got seconds to live
And there’s no curing me, ‘cos she’s
in my blood, so when I stagger
back to my cell, she’s still here, in jail
a part of me, and I want my blood
to run, I want to slash myself wide open
and set her free
