Behind The Quiet Door
Behind these walls of steel and stone,
A crowded place, yet still alone
The echoes bounce, the silence screams
And heavy thoughts invade my dreams.
The ticking clock, the endless days
A mind that wanders in a maze,
Regret rewinds, replayed on loop
White shadows gather tight and close.
A painted face, I show the crowd,
Not weak, not shaken, never bowed,
But in the dark, the truth breaks through,
A fragile heart, I never knew.
The nights are long, the sleep is thin,
The loudest fight is held within,
Where hope feels small just out of sight,
A faded flicker in the night.
Yet somewhere deep a voice will rise
Beyond the bars, beyond the lies
It whispers softly, you’re still here
There’s more than pain, more than fear!
And though these walls may hold me tight
They can’t imprison all my light
For even here where shadows dwell
A soul can heal… a heart can tell.
